Ensuring the functionality and recalibration of automated systems for measuring the tilt of reactor vessels in five units at the Mochovce and Jaslovské Bohunice nuclear power plants

Over more than three decades, the Institute of Measurement of the Slovak Academy of Sciences has gradually developed and supplied automated systems for measuring the inclination of reactor vessels to all currently operational units at the Mochovce and Jaslovské Bohunice nuclear power plants. These measurement systems use the principles of hydronivelization and pendametry with optoelectronic scanning of measured values, with a resolution of 1 µm for measuring the level and displacement of the pendameter suspension. Currently, the measuring systems on five reactors in Mochovce and Jaslovské Bohunice are in continuous operation and require highly skilled maintenance and regular calibration, which is provided by employees of the Institute of Mathematics and Informatics of the Slovak Academy of Sciences in accordance with the standards of the ISO 9001: 2015 and ISO 19433.
In 2025, we passed the demanding certification process for our workplace in accordance with the above-mentioned standards and, in a public tender announced by Slovenské elektrárne, a.s., we were successful and won a contract for the calibration and maintenance of these measuring systems for a period of three years.
