PhD study program: Measurement Technology
Akademic year: 2018-2019
Advisor: Assoc.prof. Ing. Milan Tyšler, CSc. (tysler@savba.sk)
External educational institution: Institute of Measurement Science SAS
Accepting university: Faculty of Electrical Engineering and Information Technology, Slovak University of Technology in Bratislava, Institute of Electrical Engineering
Max. number of students: 1
Study language: Slovak/English

Annotation:
Modeling of the heart activation and simulation of the cardiac electrical field using analytically defined models of cardiac ventricles and atria or realistic models obtained by imaging methods. Simulation of activation propagation in the heart ventricles or atria with pathological changes present in selected cardiovascular diseases (left ventricular hypertrophy, ischemic heart disease, myocardial infarction, conduction and rhythm disturbances). Computation of simulated ECG signals measurable on the torso model surface and analysis of their relation with heart model parameters and extracardiac factors. The applicant is expected to have knowledge of mathematics and theory of electromagnetic fields to the extent of technological and natural sciences university study programs, as well as the ability of Matlab programming. Knowledge of professional English and ability to work with electronic information resources is required. During the study, the PhD student will extend his knowledge of biomeasurements, medical imaging methods and numerical solving of electromagnetic fields, and gain experience in evaluation of simulation experiments and biosignal processing and interpretation.
