Within the consortium for electrocardiographic imaging, we investigated the effect of processing measured ECG signals on the chest surface on the inverse reconstruction of epicardial potentials and activation maps on the heart. Data were obtained from 4 animal experiments in the Langerdorf system, where surface potential maps on the chest and epicardium during cardiac pacing from a known catheter position were measured simultaneously. 7 high frequency noise (HF) removal methods, 5 zero line removal (BDR) methods and combinations thereof were applied to the signals from the BSPM. For all processed data, epicardial potentials were calculated by an inverse problem using Tikhonov solution regularization. The inverse task was calculated for each heart cycle individually (14-31 cycles in one set), as well as for the average cycle. The results showed that the BDR method and the combination of BDR + HF methods had a positive effect on the reconstruction of epicardial signals. The HF method alone did not significantly affect the results. The smallest error in the inverse localization of the stimulation catheter was achieved using the averaged signals (SA) (Fig.).
