30 million Czech crowns for excellent science

RNDr. Milan Paluš, DrSc., our long-term collaborator and colleague from the Institute of Informatics of the Academy of Sciences of the Czech Republic, received a prestigious grant from the ASCR Academic Award – Praemium Academiae.

Academic bonus of the Academy of Sciences of the Czech Republic The award has been given for 13 years. Its purpose is to support Czech scientific excellence. Each winner will receive up to 30 million crowns, which they can draw over the next six years for research, salaries or technical equipment. The premium can only be obtained once in a lifetime. In addition to Milan Paluš, archaeologist and prehistoricist Michal Ernée and physical chemist Martin Kalbáč also received it this year.

RNDr. Milan Paluš, DrSc. is a recognized expert in the field of complex systems research. In his work he combines knowledge of mathematics, information theory and statistical physics. It seeks to develop models and methods that contribute to understanding and predicting complex dynamics in systems such as the atmosphere and climate, or the functioning of the human brain.

For many years, Milan Paluš and his team have also been cooperating with the Department of Theoretical Methods of the Institute of Measurement SCience of the Slovak Academy of Sciences within the framework of joint interacademic projects. The cooperation resulted in several joint publications. In 2019, Milan Paluš was one of the main invited speakers of the international conference Measurement 2019 organized by ÚM SAV.

We are very pleased that the Academy of Sciences of the Czech Republic awarded the scientific results of Milan Paluš by awarding this most important scientific award in the Czech Republic. Congratulations on your success!
