Current PhD Dissertation Topics 2026/2027

Study programme: Applied Mathematics (in cooperation with FMFI Comenius University)

The Department of Theoretical Methods offers two research topics addressing current challenges in complex data analysis:

🔹 Methods of Statistical Inference in Mixed Models for the Identification of Individual Brain Signatures of Pain from Neuroimaging Data

The project is related to the implementation of the international research project ERA-NET NEURON (NeuroPain). The aim is to develop advanced statistical models for the analysis of longitudinal neuroimaging data and to support personalized approaches in neuroscience and medicine.

🔹 Analysis of noise and causal dependence in stochastic dynamical systems

The research focuses on detecting causal relationships in stochastic complex systems. The goal is to analyse the limitations of existing methods and develop more robust approaches.

PhD students will work with real research data, contribute to methodological development, and participate in international scientific collaboration. Become part of our research community! Apply for doctoral studies or contact the supervisors for more information.

❗ Application deadline: April 30, 2026
