The scientific bilateral cooperation with the Department of Inorganic and Physical Chemistry, University of Ghent exists since 1999. The cooperation is oriented to materials research on selected oxide materials, especially high temperature superconductors of the REBaCuO type. Within the cooperation the possibilities of technological parameters optimization, development of new method of preparation of precursors (La₂Ce₂O₇, Y₂Ba₄CuMO_y, M = Mo, Ti, Zr) and effects of RE and Ba cation non-stoichiometry in REBCO superconductors (RE = Y, Eu, Gd, Sm), or effects of the addition of  Ti, Sc, Ce, Ag, Ru, Sn in to the superconducting compounds were studied.

            Within the assessed period, the main activities of the scientific cooperation were focused on study of effects of cation substitutions in Eu-Ba-Cu-O superconducting compounds by ions of (Sn, Ru) on their structural, superconducting and magnetic properties. In the case of Ru addition, it was found that the higher content of Ru results in formation of a new nonsuperconducting phase Ba₃EuRu₂O₉ in EuBa₂Cu_3-xRu_xO_7-δ compounds.
