Laboratory for Physical Survey of Objects of Art

Common Laboratory for Physical Survey of Object of Art is a joint activity of Institute of Measurement Science SAS and Department of Restoration, Academy of Fine Ars and Design in Bratislava.

This common laboratory was established in 2000. It is oriented to cooperation in physical survey of historical  and artistic objects. Methods and technical  facilities for optical nondestructive testing of objects of arts are developed and aplied, namely infra-red reflectography, infra-red thermography and ultra-violet fluoroscopy. Institute of Measurement Science is oriented to development of testing methods and methods of digital processing of image data, Department of Restoration provides suitable objects of art and historical artifacts and aplies the results of nondestructive testing in various phases of the artifact restoration.
