Short characteristics of the training institution

Institute of Measurement Science SAS participates in the university study level 3 in study program 5.2.54 „Measurement Technology" at the FEEIT SUT in Bratislava as an external educational institution according the Slovak Higher Education Act No. 131/2002 in its current form and according the Criteria  for accreditation of non-university institutions approved by the decision of the Minister of Education on April 1, 2003.

The Institute is a scientific institution for basic and applied research in following areas:

  • measuring methods for selected geometric quantities in precision engineering,
  • sensors of nonelectric quantities,
  • methods and systems for measuring the electric and magnetic fields of biological objects,
  • measurement and imaging methods based on nuclear magnetic resonance,
  • mathematical statistics in measurement,
  • modeling of selected bionic structures and electrophysiological processes in biological subsystems (heart, brain, stomach, lungs).

Financial conditions of the study:

  • scholarship according to valid regulations (starting from about 570 €) 
  • personal surcharges for PhD students in Slovak Academy of Science (about 10%)
  • the possibility of part-time employment in the IMS SAS and the remuneration for solving the research tasks within running projects.

Advantages for PhD students in the IMS SAS:

  • student status during the PhD study, the scholarship is not taxed,
  • possibility of accommodation in SAS hostel (about 80€ per month),
  • collaboration on projects with domestic and foreign scientific institutions,
  • the possibility of prospective employment at the training site.
