The event took place on June 21 and 22 on Primatial square in the center of Bratislava. The main goal of the event was to bring near to the citizens and visitors of Bratislava the research activities of the SAS institutes. The event was open by a short speech of the SAS president prof. RNDr. Pavol \u0160ajgal\u00edk, DrSc. Besides the exhibition stands, the event included also a cycle of lectures called \u201eLive book\u201c, where the SAS researchers presented selected research topics.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.um.sav.sk\/wp-content\/uploads\/Image3.jpg\" rel=\"lightbox[668]\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignright size-medium wp-image-2764\" src=\"https:\/\/www.um.sav.sk\/wp-content\/uploads\/Image3-600x396.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"345\" height=\"225\" \/><\/a><a href=\"https:\/\/www.um.sav.sk\/wp-content\/uploads\/Image4-1.jpg\" rel=\"lightbox[668]\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignright size-medium wp-image-2769\" src=\"https:\/\/www.um.sav.sk\/wp-content\/uploads\/Image4-1-600x450.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"300\" height=\"225\" \/><\/a>On the first day of the event, the stand of the Institute of Measurement Science was devoted to the topic \u201eMagnetic resonance \u2013 insight into the objects\u201c. Within this topic, researchers from the Department of Imaging Methods presented to the visitors of the stand experimental models related to magnetic resonance imaging and its applications in materials research. A dynamic model of the nucleus of hydrogen &#8211; a proton was presented. A rotating permanent magnet on a cardan shaft, controlled by four electromagnets in the rectangular arrangement and the fifth electromagnet placed on the bottom of the model represented the rotation and precession of the hydrogen nucleus in the magnetic field. Interesting were the exhibits related to magnetic liquids. Their position in tubes can be changed by attaching a permanent magnet. Four rotating permanent magnets guided the position and the shape of the magnetic fluid and lines of force of the magnetic field. Part of the exhibits were also polymer samples and low magnetic thin circular disks, memory discs, whose magnetic field has been measured and displayed by the method of magnetic resonance imaging. Presentation on the principles of NMR and its applications has been displayed on the laptop screen.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.um.sav.sk\/wp-content\/uploads\/Image6.jpg\" rel=\"lightbox[668]\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignleft size-medium wp-image-2767\" src=\"https:\/\/www.um.sav.sk\/wp-content\/uploads\/Image6-600x336.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"400\" height=\"225\" \/><\/a><a href=\"https:\/\/www.um.sav.sk\/wp-content\/uploads\/Image5.jpg\" rel=\"lightbox[668]\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignleft size-medium wp-image-2766\" src=\"https:\/\/www.um.sav.sk\/wp-content\/uploads\/Image5-600x494.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"273\" height=\"225\" \/><\/a>On the second day, the stand of the Institute of Measurement Science was devoted to the topic \u201eECG and Tomography &#8211; insight into the heart\u201c. Within this topic, researchers from the Department of Biomeasurements presented a method for noninvasive pre-operative localization of cardiac arrhythmia sources based on multichannel ECG measurement, torso tomographic scan and model of the heart as an electrical generator. The method is being developed in cooperation with Slovak National Institute of Cardiovascular Diseases in Bratislava and some additional institutions abroad. The visitors of the stand could also record their basic ECG and follow their cardiac rhythm using a 132-channel ECG mapping device developed in the Institute.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.um.sav.sk\/wp-content\/uploads\/Image7.jpg\" rel=\"lightbox[668]\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignright size-medium wp-image-2768\" src=\"https:\/\/www.um.sav.sk\/wp-content\/uploads\/Image7-600x341.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"396\" height=\"225\" \/><\/a>The cycle of lectures \u201eLive book\u201c and the second successful day of the event ended with the attractive lecture of Assoc. prof. Ing. Ty\u0161ler, PhD. from the Institute of Measurement Science SAS about combination of three advanced technologies for the support of diagnostics and therapy of cardiac diseases \u2013 ECG mapping, CT tomography and modeling of the cardiac electrical field.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>In the second year of the event \u201eWeekend with SAS\u201c participated also Institute of Measurement Science with its exposition.
